About the museum
The museum is located in Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer, at the locality called “Les Moulins” on the Avenue de la Libération, close to the Omaha Beach where American troops landed on June 6, 1944. It is run by a société par actions simplifiée (SAS), the SAS Musée Mémorial Omaha Beach.
Across roughly 1,400 m², it holds a major collection of uniforms, personal items, weapons and vehicles, all of which belonged to soldiers. Reconstructed American and German scenes show the everyday lives of the men and women who took part in the fighting. Period documents, archive photographs, explanatory texts and thematic panels cover every phase, from the Occupation to the landing.
During the visit, an archive film with testimonies from American veterans explains the landing at Omaha Beach and at Pointe du Hoc. The collection continues to grow.
