About the museum
The Saint-Germain-Laval municipal museum was founded in 1954 and has held the “Musée de France” label since 2003. It is housed in the village town hall.
In a hushed atmosphere, three rooms from different periods and regions have been reconstructed: a salon with four 17th-century Aubusson tapestries showing hunting scenes, a collection of chinoiseries with furniture inlaid with mother-of-pearl, and miniatures of antique textiles from France, Persia, India and China. Some pieces also tell the story of Saint-Germain-Laval.
