About the museum

The hamlet of Poul Fetan had fallen into oblivion and nearly disappeared. It was acquired by the commune of Quistinic in 1977. A team of volunteers, supported by the municipality, began restoring the buildings in 1979, using original materials and techniques. The work lasted around ten years in two main phases, and the village opened to the public from 1985.

The ecomuseum aims to showcase traditional know-how and the animals of traditional farms. The cottages, restored with original materials and techniques, host exhibitions and displays on the interior of Brittany, on wool and on hemp.

The site belongs to the commune of Quistinic and is entrusted, under a public service delegation, to a private operator, Sites & Cie. Admission revenue finances the upkeep of the village and the animals, and enables up to 30 jobs to be created in the high season.
