About the museum
The Alt-Arnstorf-Haus was built in 1759 as the home of a craftsman and small farmer. It is considered one of the oldest surviving wooden houses in Arnstorf and belongs to the Eckflezhaus type (a traditional corner-hall house). It stands just a few steps south of the market square, by the Steinbach.
A local-heritage interest group acquired the property and set up a local history museum in it. Since then it has shown how people lived and worked around the turn of the century.
On display are furniture, furnishings and household items from around 1900. Particularly vivid is the fully preserved shoemaker's workshop. In the outbuildings stand the village's oldest fire pump, a historic hearse from Neukirchen and, above all, agricultural equipment from the early 19th century.
