About the museum

At the current site in the Wolfegg palace grounds, the motoring journalist Fritz B. Busch displayed his vehicle collection from 1973 in an outbuilding of the princely palace that is around 500 years old. After his death in 2010 his daughter continued to run the museum until it closed at the end of October 2016; a large part of the vehicles then moved to a tractor museum on Lake Constance.

The automotive business economist Nicolas Flosbach subsequently leased two outbuildings of the palace from the princely family of Waldburg-Wolfegg, refurbished the rooms between January and April 2017 and opened the Automuseum Wolfegg on April 14, 2017, which he has run privately ever since.

Across some 3,000 square meters, the focus is on everyday cars and motorcycles from the late 1960s to the 1980s, complemented by older classic cars, tractors and a few more recent exotics. Fashion, toys, household appliances and entertainment electronics from the same decades place the vehicles in the context of their time. A special feature is a collection of single-wheel trailers, which the museum describes as the largest in the world. Special exhibitions are devoted to topics including Porsche and rare Porsche Diesel tractors.
