About the museum
The brewery museum is located in the Post brewery inn on the Hauptstraße in Nesselwang. The inn was first documented in 1650. The brewing family Meyer has run the inn and brewery for more than 130 years, now in its fifth generation.
The museum is housed in the historic 17th-century beer cellar, which the senior head of the business has set up as a small display. Many of the pieces come from the brewery's own operation, including a cast-iron labeling machine and a decommissioned bottle-cleaning system. There is also a copper brew pan with coal firing, a wort cooler, a fermentation vat, a small hand-filling system and an ice box refrigerator with ice tongs.
Of particular interest is the pitch kettle of Nesselwang's last cooperage, in which heated pitch was used to line and seal the old oak barrels. The museum also has a collection of beer mugs and glasses. Beer seminars and tastings take place in the vaulted cellar.
