About the museum
The Buddelschiffmuseum (Ship-in-a-Bottle Museum) in the East Frisian fishing village of Neuharlingersiel is dedicated to a special form of ship modelling: models built inside glass bottles. On display are around 100 faithfully detailed ships in bottles with a capacity of up to 60 litres.
The models span the history of seafaring – from watercraft of antiquity and sailing ships of past centuries to the modern nuclear submarine. The collection is complemented by captains' portraits, engravings and photographs of historic ships. In addition, the museum takes up themes from seafaring and fishing in changing exhibitions.
