About the museum
The writer and satirist Carl Julius Weber was born in 1767 in the house that now serves as Langenburg's town hall, and spent his childhood and school years there. In 1987 the town set up a small literary memorial for him in this building.
The room is furnished with furniture from Weber's lifetime and displays a collection of his writings, such as the “Letters of a German Travelling in Germany” (“Briefe eines in Deutschland reisenden Deutschen”) and “Demokritos” (“Demokrit”), as well as a few objects from his personal possessions. It also commemorates the writer Agnes Günther, who lived in Langenburg around 1900 as the dean's wife and wrote her novel “Die Heilige und ihr Narr” here. Because the room also serves as the registry office's wedding room, a visit is only possible by appointment with the town administration.
