About the museum

The Deutsches Flippermuseum in Neuwied's city center has existed since 2006 and celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2026. It is run by the association Deutsches Flippermuseum e. V. Around 150 exhibits from 1930 to the present are on display. Almost all can be played, and admission includes free games.

The collection traces the development of the machine: from early ball-catch games such as the Bajazzo, through pin games such as Victory Ball (USA, 1932) and the German machine Bomber (1938), to the Treff Gloria of 1954 with six synchronously working flippers. Also included are the Super Flipper of 1975, considered the first video pinball, and machines by the manufacturers Capcom, Williams, Midway, and Stern, up to an Iron Maiden model from 2018.

On the upper floor of the building is what the museum says is the world's first pinball hotel. Its themed rooms are inspired by famous pinball machines, and each room has a pinball machine for free play. Outside opening hours, the museum can be rented by groups, clubs, and companies.
