About the museum
The museum is founded on the collection of the Vogel family, a Paderborn haulage business. Oskar Vogel senior, a tractor driver and entrepreneur originally from Silesia, began collecting old and unusual tractors in the 1940s. His son Oskar Vogel junior continued the collection after his father's death in 1993 and expanded it considerably.
On 31 May 1998 the family opened the museum in Paderborn. Around 100 tractors are on display, mainly from German manufacturers such as Lanz, Hanomag, Deutz, MAN, Eicher and Schlüter, along with Ford models. Many machines consist largely of original parts and are still roadworthy; among the rarities is a Lanz Bulldog “Felddank”, of which only a few examples survive.
The display is complemented by a furnished historic forge, a reconstructed Shell petrol station from around 1920 and old advertising signs. In the rear part of the building, about 10,000 model vehicles are on show – from tiny miniatures to large, working model tractors – as well as a few vintage cars.
