About the museum
The village museum is located in the Hornhardt manor estate, a farm complex on Schloßstraße in Großengottern. After extensive conversion and restoration work, the property is open to the public. Besides the museum, the bakehouse, the slaughter room and a Gadenkeller (storage cellar) are among the sights; the grounds also contain an agricultural machinery museum. The manor estate is also the setting for the annual Christkindlmarkt (Christmas market).
After a long break, the village museum reopened to visitors for the Jahrmarktsfest (fair festival) in September 2024. On display are old toys, school benches, slate boxes and a large calculating machine, as well as the slaughter room of the farm complex.
