About the museum
The railway museum is located on the former operating grounds of the Merzig-Büschfelder Eisenbahn in the middle of Losheim am See. The line operated from 1906 and was closed in 1987.
Since June 12, 1982, the Museums-Eisenbahn-Club Losheim has been running museum trains with steam locomotives here. The museum shows photos, documents, films and exhibits on the history of the line and of railways in Saarland; several steam and diesel locomotives and numerous passenger and luggage coaches stand on the grounds. It belongs to the Erlebnisbahnhof (experience station) Losheim am See, which also includes the Eisenbahnhalle as a cultural center and the museum railway.
