October 9, 2026 – April 4, 2027
Works by the German-language winners of the 2026 Max-und-Moritz-Preis, one of the most important awards for comics.
From November 7, 2026
Exhibition in cooperation with the Czech Center Munich; the museum has not yet published further details.
The museum is dedicated to Erika Fuchs (1906–2005), who as editor-in-chief of the German Micky Maus magazine, launched in 1951, translated the stories from Duckburg (Entenhausen) into German for decades and gave them a playful language all their own. She lived in Schwarzenbach an der Saale from 1933 to 1984 and is buried there. To honor her work, the Dr.-Erika-Fuchs-Stiftung was founded in 2007; it provides financial support to the museum, which belongs to the town of Schwarzenbach.
The museum opened on August 1, 2015 in a narrow, elongated new building by Karlsruhe architect Dominik Burkard; the exhibition was designed by the Berlin agency m.o.l.i.t.o.r. The core of the collection is the extensive Duckburg collection of Donaldist Gerhard Severin.
The permanent exhibition leads through seven rooms covering around 600 square meters: from an animated film on the history of comics to a walk-in Duckburg with the Money Bin and Gyro Gearloose's workshop, and a biographical comic about Erika Fuchs by Simon Schwartz. In the largest room, hands-on stations let visitors explore stylistic devices such as alliteration and onomatopoeia; original objects such as her typewriter show how she worked. Changing special exhibitions are devoted to comics in all their forms. In 2026 the museum received the Institutionenpreis Deutsche Sprache (German Language Institution Prize).
