About the museum
The association Militärhistorik Röcknitz e.V. was founded in September 2019. Its members' passion for collecting historical military items began around 15 years earlier, and since then the holdings of uniforms, vehicles and military equipment have grown steadily.
Today the collection fills three exhibition halls and an outdoor area on the roughly 30-hectare site near Röcknitz, a district of Thallwitz. The site lies in a riverside forest landscape along the Mulde and includes two quarries. On display are uniforms, jeeps, trucks and tanks, including vehicles from GDR stocks, a Tatra 148 fire engine, and, outdoors, a MiG-21 fighter jet and a Mi-24 attack helicopter.
Besides the museum days, the association rents out the grounds for events. These include a seminar and training area, a party location and a tank driving track.

Getting there & parking
The site lies in the north of the Leipzig district near Thallwitz, close to Wurzen and Eilenburg, on the grounds of Red Star Company (Steinbergstr. 20, 04808 Thallwitz). The association recommends traveling by car.
