Fahrzeugmuseum Marxzell
Private vehicle museum in the Albtal near Karlsruhe with cars, motorcycles, tractors and fire engines on 3,600 square meters.
About the museum
Bernhard Reichert began collecting historic vehicles in 1958 and in 1968 opened a museum of his own in a former sawmill in Marxzell. After his death in 1984 the family continued to run the museum; it is regarded as one of the oldest privately run technology museums in Germany.
Over time the collection grew far beyond automobiles. On view are motorcycles, mopeds and bicycles, tractors, fire engines, carriages, locomotives, streetcars and a helicopter, as well as workshops such as a forge and a Swiss army kitchen. In 2013 another hall level was added, and since then the exhibition covers about 3,600 square meters.
The densely arranged exhibits combine the history of technology and local history. At the end of the tour, a historic cinema with an old projector shows a film on the history of the automobile.
