About the museum
The Old Town Hall on Hauptstraße was built in 1524 under Prince-Bishop Gabriel von Eyb. The basement served for a long time as a market hall and later as a police station. In 1753 an apartment was fitted out for the court clerk; in 1816 the building passed into municipal ownership.
Until 1933 the building was Spalt's town hall; afterwards the fire brigade moved in. Today the house displays a small collection on fire service history, with historic equipment, fire buckets and pumps.
