About the museum
The Fischinger Heimathaus with the ski museum is housed in a typical Allgäu farmhouse, the so-called Gschwenderhaus. The building was carefully restored and displays objects and vehicles from the past of Fischen, including old carriages, a reconstructed farmhouse parlor, historic costumes and spinning wheels.
The same building houses the FIS Ski Museum, one of roughly 30 ski museums worldwide with the seal of approval of the International Ski Federation (FIS). It documents alpine and Nordic skiing as well as other winter sports: ski jumping skis from 1925 to today, old Allgäu wooden skis, ski clothing from past decades, ice stocks (Eisstöcke) and ice skates. The ski workshop displays tools for making and repairing skis.
