About the museum
The Pott’s brewery dates back to 1769, when an ancestor of today's brewing family leased the brewery, bakery and farm of the Oelde Jesuit monastery and soon afterwards took it over. Because the location in the old town became too cramped, a new plant was built on the edge of town from 1996; in 2017/18 the brewhouse and fermentation cellar were also moved there, creating the fully glass-walled experience brewery.
Around the new site, an experience world gradually grew up consisting of a brewery inn, glass-walled production, the Brunnenkino and the Georg-Lechner-Biermuseum. Across more than 300 square metres, the museum shows the history of brewing in the Münsterland and beyond.
The collection includes historic beer tankards, bottles and advertising signs as well as material on more than 500 Westphalian breweries. The centrepiece is an original brewhouse from 1900. The museum is freely accessible daily and is also a stop on the guided experience programmes through the brewery.
