About the museum

Aschhausen Castle in the Hohenlohe region was a hunting lodge of the abbots of the Schöntal monastery. The keep dates back to the 13th or 14th century; the complex received its present form, with two towers, in the early 18th century. After the monastery was dissolved, it passed to the von Zeppelin family in 1803. The family still lives there today and runs the associated farm.

Since the 1950s, the family has set up a museum with pieces from its family heirlooms in one part of the complex. These include a coin collection, stove tiles, hunting weapons and trophies. Today the castle is mainly used as a venue for celebrations and conferences; visits are possible after registration with the estate administration.
