About the museum

The Histotainment Park Adventon is being built on a seven-hectare site near Osterburken in the Neckar-Odenwald district. For several years, a group of history enthusiasts has been building a town modeled on the Middle Ages, largely by hand and with materials, tools and methods of the time. The aim is to test in practice how people in the Middle Ages built, worked and lived, for example how watertight a shingle roof is or how one cooks over an open fire.

The museum is funded solely by private means and depends on volunteer helpers. Several buildings in half-timbered and split-log construction already stand; a stone gate tower modeled on the Templerhaus in Amorbach is rising, and there is a Viking settlement as well as workshops where craftspeople demonstrate traditional techniques. The park is operated by Histotainment GmbH; the friends' association "Die Siedler von Adventon" supports the project.

Beyond the regular opening days, the grounds also serve as the setting for public events such as the Herbstfest (autumn festival) with a large battle, the Schlachtfest (traditional butchering feast) or the Wikingerfest (Viking festival). Seminars, workshops and courses are also held, for example on historical fencing or archery.
