June 12, 2026 – December 6, 2026
Anniversary show featuring the winners of this year’s Paper Art Award, Dirk Krecker, Hideaki Yamanobe and Inka Bell, as well as works by further artists centred on the material of paper.
The Haus des Papiers was initiated by entrepreneurs Ul Vohrer and Annette Berr, who had previously launched projects such as the residency programme Paper Residency! and the Paper Art Award through their fine art print workshop d’mage. Opened in 2021, the museum is run by a non-profit limited company and supported by d’mage, the paper manufacturer Hahnemühle and Canon Deutschland.
The focus is not on art on paper, such as drawing or printmaking, but on paper as an artistic material in its own right: objects, cuts, stitching, combinations with porcelain or charred paper, all the way to conceptual works. Established international names are shown alongside emerging voices in exhibitions that change every year.
The museum includes a reference library with catalogues and specialist literature on paper art, as well as an education programme with workshops for children, families and adults, held in the "Raum für Materialerfahrung" (Space for Material Experience) on Legiendamm. To mark its fifth anniversary, the museum presented an anniversary exhibition in 2026 featuring the winners of the Paper Art Award.
