Local history museum in the half-timbered Frühmesserhaus (house of the early-mass priest) of 1531, with eleven exhibition rooms, a cooperage and a wine cellar. Free admission.
The annual exhibition 2026 is devoted to the Hofmänner of Eibelstadt between 1870 and 1983 and shows how strongly they shaped life in the village. The museum is open on Sundays from May to October.
About the museum
The Eibelstadt local history museum on the Main has been housed since 1989 in the former Frühmesserhaus on Hauptstraße, a half-timbered building dating from 1531. A Frühmesser was the cleric who said the early Mass in the parish; his former residence is itself now part of the exhibition.
A collection spread over eleven exhibition rooms and a cellar is limited to objects made or used in Eibelstadt. It includes furniture, kitchen equipment and devotional objects from the priest's residence, a fully preserved cooperage, and a painted, wood-paneled servants' room from 1760 under the roof. In the cellar the museum shows equipment from earlier viticulture, such as vintners' tools and harvest vessels.
The museum is run by the Heimatverein and its volunteers. After the Corona break, the association redesigned the museum and added sit-down and touch stations, listening stations and a children's cinema on the upper floor. Once a year there is a special exhibition, traditionally held around the Kirchweih (parish festival).
