About the museum
The building that houses the museum was built around 1900 as a bakehouse and laundry house and served as a milk collection point from 1938 to 1960. In 1970 the Hossingen local group of the Schwäbischer Albverein (Swabian Alb Association) bought the house, converted it in 1971 and set up a local history museum.
The collection shows rural furniture as well as tools and equipment from crafts and farming of earlier times. It gives an impression of how people on the Rauhe Alb lived and worked in the past. The museum stands in the village center next to the Protestant church and is looked after by volunteers from the Albverein.
