About the museum
The Heimatmuseum Hüllhorst was founded in 1910 and celebrated its centenary on June 13, 2010. It is housed in the former Hüllhorst school on Schnathorster Straße.
Three sections show the everyday culture of the population in the 19th century in Hüllhorst and the other villages; a fourth tells the story of the municipality with texts and display boards. In early 2004 the entrance area was redesigned; here, after scholarly study, the museum's extensive archaeological holdings and the results of excavations from 1999 are presented.
With the most recent expansion in 2010, the postwar period and the 1950s and 1960s were also included in the exhibition.
