About the museum
The Heimatmuseum Ilsfeld belongs to the Ilsfelder Heimatverein (local heritage association) and is located in the Alte Lehrerwohnhaus (old teachers' residence) on Lothar-Späth-Platz on Charlottenstraße. Through exhibitions, publications, lectures and village walks, the association aims to strengthen awareness of the history, culture and customs of Ilsfeld and its districts.
On the second floor, the museum shows exhibitions on selected themes of local history. These are usually opened at the Christmas market on the Saturday before the first Advent and remain on view until October or November of the following year.
The house also has an archive. Its core is the estate of the Ilsfeld local historian Otto Conrad, which the association looks after on behalf of the municipality. Visitors can research local and regional history there; the collection includes about 500 books on regional and local history.
