About the museum
The Lägerdorf local history collection began in 1950, when the teacher Otto Pazerat gathered the first items at the primary school in Alte Schulstraße. From 1971 it was looked after by the then head of the adult education centre, Reimer Wentorp.
In 1980 the museum reopened in the former post office building and was run for 30 years by Gerhard Korell, until it was temporarily housed in the "Haus am Kamp".
After several years of waiting, the collection found a new home in the former town hall. Conversion work began in 2018, and the new local history museum was officially opened on 16 August 2019. The local history is now presented in five renovated rooms on two floors.
