Temporarily closedAdmission €3
Temporarily closed. The museum in the Haus des Gastes remains closed for construction work until further notice; the permanent exhibition is being reworked conceptually and in its design.

About the museum

The history of the Müllrose museum began in 1914, when school principal Hermann Trebbin started collecting objects relating to local history to bring the home region closer to his pupils. On December 3, 1933, he opened a permanent exhibition in the town hall. During World War II, a large part of the objects was lost; on October 23, 1955, the local history museum reopened in the converted attic of the town hall.

Because space ran out, the museum moved in 1983 into former classrooms of the old town school on Kietz. After the school building was converted into the "Haus des Gastes" (opened 1997), it shares a roof with the Schlaubetal tourist information office and the town library. The collection comprises about 35,000 objects, including the photographic estate of Müllrose photographer Ursula Raschke with over 16,000 negatives and a small collection of historic carriages. The annual Easter exhibition has been especially popular since 1991.

In the fire station from 1925, with its wooden hose tower, the museum has maintained a branch since 2005 on the Müllrose fire service and on the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Kanal with the town's shipyards. The main building is closed until further notice due to construction work, and the permanent exhibition is also being redesigned.
