About the museum
The local history museum goes back to the carpenter and collector Willy Braun, who rescued discarded tools and work implements from being thrown away. When the new town hall in Remmingsheim was occupied in 1973, he set up a museum in the empty old administrative offices, which first opened in April 1977 – the first in a rural municipality in what is today the Tübingen district (Landkreis).
After the old town hall was demolished, the collection moved to the attic of the community center (Bürgerhaus), completed in 1990. In 2012 the municipality acquired the building of the New Apostolic Church at Nelkenstraße 3; after conversion and extensions, the museum moved there in 2013 and was first presented to the public on July 28, 2013. Until September 2024, Braun's daughter and her husband looked after the collection on a voluntary basis; since 2025 the local clubs have opened the house.
The collection includes more than 2,000 exhibits from Neustetten and the surrounding area. It shows life and work in the house and in the fields, with a focus on hop growing, which is typical of the municipality, and on the processing of flax and hemp from raw material to woven cloth.
