About the museum

Seebarn lies in the eastern Upper Palatinate between Neunburg vorm Wald and Rötz and was first mentioned in a document in 1133. The church, school house and parsonage form the village center. The local history museum, run by the Heimatverein Seebarn e.V., is housed in the protected parsonage from the 17th/18th century.

Across three floors it displays everyday objects, work implements and furniture: from the good parlor (gute Stube) and carriages to the old village school and objects of religious custom and a variety of household tools. In the former parish stable, a nature and habitat exhibition presents the wildlife of the Upper Palatinate Forest. The grounds also include the Ranklgarten, with vegetable and herb gardens, and the toy barn (Spielzeugstadel) with toys and a large model railway.
