About the museum
The small museum in the middle of Lützenhardt goes back to the collecting passion of a traveling salesman. He traveled selling brushes and textiles and, on his trips between the Rhine and the Neckar, gradually traded for exhibits. His daughter now preserves this legacy and welcomes guests herself.
The collection shows how people lived and worked in Black Forest farmhouses in the past: a dining table, sewing table and spinning wheel convey the atmosphere of a parlor, hand-painted clocks from the 17th and 18th centuries tick in the room, and a music box, pocket watches and an old harmonium from a Stuttgart court piano factory recall household music. A Black Forest wedding procession in miniature and a faithfully reconstructed workshop lead to the once-flourishing brush-making craft of the village. A preserved ell shows that the measure differed in length between Württemberg and Baden.
