About the museum
The local history museum stands directly next to Zarrentin Abbey on Kirchplatz. On around 150 square metres, the permanent exhibition shows the history of the region from prehistoric times to the present.
The objects include a fully furnished historic pharmacy as well as testimonies of local crafts and everyday life. The period of the inner-German border, which shaped the area around Lake Schaalsee, is also covered.
The entrance has been redesigned to be barrier-free. Combined tours and a combined ticket are offered with the neighbouring abbey; the museum is run by the Kloster-, Geschichts- und Museumsverein zu Zarrentin.
