About the museum
The Heimatstube Brüel presents the history and craft traditions of Brüel and the surrounding area across five large rooms in the town hall. The collection was assembled and exhibited over many years by Gilda Hellmann.
Today a circle of friends runs the house. Up to ten volunteers regularly take care of the opening days, cataloging the exhibits, organizing events, and contributing to local affairs. In 2022 the circle of friends received a device for archiving and public relations as part of the program “100 Laptops für 100 Heimatstuben.”
The program includes visits by school classes, who experience how people lived and worked in the past through their own concept, as well as children's birthday parties. Occasionally the circle of friends also hosts a murder mystery dinner (Krimidinner) about notable figures from Brüel in the 1920s.
