About the museum
The Komturhof in Darlingerode was once the estate farm and forester's house of the Teutonic Order commandery of Langeln; it is first mentioned in records in 1468 as “curia de comtures.” The surviving post-and-beam building dates from that period. Later the farm served as a count's forester's house, from 1930 as a service residence of the Prussian state forestry administration, and from 1945 as a dwelling.
In 1994, after the listed buildings were restored, the Heimatverein opened the local history museum. Volunteer museum women (Museumsfrauen) look after the exhibition.
On display are, among other things, an apartment from around 1900 with a bedroom, the regional women's costume “Nennen” with its fabrics, old photographs and postcards, and records on the history of the village and the neighboring Altenrode. A festival room is also available in a former barn.
