About the museum
The Klein Escherde local heritage association was founded on April 15, 1988, and has since looked after the village's culture and customs. Its offerings include the local Heimatstube.
To bring the past to life, the Heimatstube shows pictures and documents from the village. A complete apartment with furnishings and objects from 1900 to 1950 gives an insight into everyday life in earlier times.
The association's village chronicle reaches back to the 13th century: Escherde was first mentioned in 1258. The village chapel from 1699 was demolished in 1973 and rebuilt in the Museumsdorf Cloppenburg open-air museum.
