About the museum
Sculptor Moritz Bormann renovated a medieval mill building in the center of Hildesheim between 1969 and 1971 and founded the Atelierhaus Bischofsmühle there, with a studio stage and a jazz club in the basement. Over the years a sculpture park grew around the building, with Bormann's own works and works by befriended sculptors.
In 2009 Bormann had to give up his studio after a change of ownership. Right next to the building and sculpture park, he then set up the Kunstcontainer (art container) as an alternative space for presenting and making art. The house itself is now used by the Kulturverein Bischofsmühle Cyclus 66 e. V. as a venue for concerts.
