About the museum
The Heimatstube Lauchhammer-Mitte is run by the Kultur- und Heimatverein Lauchhammer e.V. (culture and local heritage association), founded in 1995. The association wants to bring together residents from all districts who feel connected to the history, culture and traditions of the town.
Within its limited space, the association shows exhibitions on the history of the town and its industry in the Heimatstube. A current exhibition is devoted to 300 years of industrial development, which began in 1725 with the iron hammer works and continues through art casting, lignite mining and machine building to the present day.
The work rests on an association archive and the collections of its members. Among other things, this has produced more than 30 local-history publications on the districts and the annual Heimatkalender (local calendar) with historic and current views of the town.
