About the museum
The Heimatstube with clock museum is in the gatehouse of Schloss Lindenau near Ortrand. The gatehouse was built in 1690 and belongs to a village ensemble of castle, park, church and half-timbered house.
The clock museum opened at Pentecost 1995, during the palace park festival. Its collection comes from a Cottbus tower-clock maker who grew up as a child in the former children's home in the palace and gave his clocks to the village out of gratitude. Several rooms display, among other things, tower clocks, pendulum wall clocks and house clocks more than a hundred years old; a traditional clockmaker's workbench is also set up.
The museum is looked after by the local Heimatverein. Besides the clock museum, the gatehouse also houses the village's Heimatstube.
