About the museum
The Kultur- und Heimatverein Schwarzheide presents an exhibition on the history of the town in its clubhouse on Dorfaue in the West district, right next to the Lutherkirche (Luther Church). The permanent exhibition opened in early 2017 in a former classroom, in time for the town's 50th anniversary.
It spans almost 600 years: Schwarzheide grew out of the villages of Naundorf and Zschornegosda, whose first documentary mention had turned 600 years old in 2021. Alongside documented historical dates, the display shows previously unpublished photographs from residents' private albums, as well as historical maps, one of which even shows old Sorbian field names.
