About the museum
The Rohnstadt Heimatstube is in the old council and bake house, which was built in 1927 in place of a half-timbered predecessor and is a listed building. The house initially served as the administration building of the then independent municipality and was at times also used as a school, church, housing for expellees, poorhouse and youth room. Since 1986 it has housed the village museum, which is looked after by the Geschichts- und Heimatverein Rohnstadt e. V. (history and local heritage association).
The exhibition ranges from finds from the Celtic period to recent village history. Key themes are mining around the Mehlbach silver mine, documented from 1495; the Weiltal railway from 1891; club life, agriculture and the school. The historic bake room from 1927 can also be visited in the basement. For 2026 the theme "80 Years of Expellees in Rohnstadt" is the focus.
