About the museum
The Kronberger Haus on Bolongarostraße in Höchst is a noble mansion that Franz von Kronberg had built between 1577 and 1580. From 1994 to 2026 the Porzellan Museum, operated by the Historisches Museum Frankfurt, was housed there.
The collection comprises almost 2,000 objects and is considered the most extensive public collection of Höchst faience and porcelain in German-speaking countries. It showed mainly pieces from the Rococo and Classicism periods, including tableware sets with mythological scenes and figures from the Höchst manufactory.
The museum closed at the end of June 2026. The porcelain collection is moving to the future museum in the Bolongaropalast, which is scheduled to open in summer 2027 and will present Höchst porcelain with a new concept, multimedia stations and hands-on activities. Individual pieces can be seen until the end of February 2027 in the city lab "Höchst erzählt!" at the Historisches Museum Frankfurt.
