About the museum
The Hof der Heidmark is a Low German half-timbered house of 1642 with old stair granaries at the entrance to the Liethwald in Bad Fallingbostel. It is both a museum and a memorial. The Bookholtshof, originally located elsewhere and one of the oldest farmsteads in the area, was moved to Bad Fallingbostel for this purpose.
The memorial commemorates 21 places in the eastern Heidmark that had to be evacuated in the mid-1930s to make way for the Bergen military training area.
In a stair granary of 1767 on the grounds there is also the Rummelsburg local history room. It shows collections on the cloth-making trade in Rummelsburg, on hand damask weaving in Friedrichshuld, on farmhouse looms, on hunting in the Rummelsburg district, and on Bismarck and the Rummelsburg district.
