About the museum
The Kameramuseum grew out of the collecting passion of Andreas Lorenz. It all began in 1985 with a folding camera he bought at a flea market; over the decades, one piece turned into thousands.
After long preparation and with support from the municipality of Beidenfleth, the museum was opened on December 30, 2011, in the village's old school. It is privately run.
In four rooms, the exhibition traces the development of the camera over the past 140 years or so, from spy and small-format cameras through plate cameras and the Leica room to glass negatives, East German and Soviet-made products, and brands such as Kodak, Agfa, Rollei, Nikon and Praktica. According to the museum, around 5,800 items from a total collection of about 8,700 cameras are on display.
