About the museum
The parish church of St. George in Bocholt preserved significant artworks despite major destruction. When a new sacristy was built on the north side of the church between 1978 and 1980, an art room was set up on the upper floor to make these pieces publicly accessible.
The collection includes a 14th-century fork cross (Gabelkreuz), paintings and manuscripts, liturgical vessels from the estate of Cardinal Melchior von Diepenbrock, Prince-Bishop of Breslau, religious folk art, liturgical vestments, and goldsmith's works presumably by Israhel van Meckenem the Elder. The room is looked after by the parish and can be visited by arrangement with the parish office.
