About the museum
The Kuriose Muschel-Museum is run by the association of the same name in Wremen on the Wurster Nordseeküste. Its collection consists of more than 3,000 shells of mussels and snails from all over the world, which differ greatly in shape, color and pattern.
The presentation is what makes it special: the collector has given many pieces imaginative, humorous names that invite reflection and a smile. In addition, texts convey interesting facts about the mollusks' way of life, such as their diet, reproduction and habitats from the sea to the desert. A separate exhibition shows more than 100 bottle ships.
