About the museum
The house was the home of teacher and local historian Magda Heyken (1895–1972), who wrote a chronicle of the village of Hage. The building dates from 1959. Since 1986 it has served as an archive and local history collection, which volunteers continually expand.
On display are historical documents, files and photos, paintings from Hage and the surrounding area, a library on local history, and objects from crafts, trade and agriculture. A model shows the village of Hage as it looked in 1872, based on old floor plans and pictures. The two-volume "Familienchronik der Kirchengemeinde Hage 1706–1900" (family chronicle of the Hage parish) is available as a reference work on site.
