About the museum

The Nationalpark-Tor in Monschau-Höfen is one of the visitor houses of Eifel National Park and combines tourist information with an exhibition. Under the title "Narzissenrausch und Waldwandel" (Daffodil Rush and Forest Change), oversized displays of wild daffodils take center stage; in spring, thousands bloom near the gate.

The exhibition also tells of the forest's transformation: conifers planted in the forestry era are gradually giving way to a natural mixed deciduous forest. Acoustic, fragrant and tactile stations appeal to all the senses; the texts are available as audio in German, Dutch, French and English. A digital terrain model and national park films complement the visit.

The house also has a shop with hiking and cycling maps and an e-bike rental. The Wildnis-Trail and the accessible Höfener Heckenweg trail begin in front of the house, and the Eifelsteig hiking trail passes right by it.
