About the museum
The Nationalpark-Tor in Simmerath-Rurberg is one of the visitor houses of Eifel National Park. It combines a tourist information office with an exhibition under the motto "Lebensadern der Natur" (Lifelines of Nature).
Visitors follow animal tracks through the natural and cultural history of the Eifel and experience rivers, streams, pools and lakes from the perspective of a red kite. Crayfish, freshwater pearl mussel and beaver give insight into their lives and show why national parks matter. A digital terrain model of the national park and national park films complement the tour.
The gate is also the starting point of the free Rurberg ranger tour, which heads into the forests of the Kermeter on Saturdays.
