About the museum
The Neue Galerie im Höhmannhaus is located right next to the Schaezlerpalais, on the ground floor of a four-story patrician house on Maximilianstraße whose origins lie in the 16th and 17th centuries. The 18th-century staircase is decorated with a fresco by Joseph Anton Huber.
The house came to the municipal museums through a bequest from Dr. Ruth Höhmann. The gallery opened here in 1996 and until 2024 offered artists an experimental platform for current, time-related or situation-specific projects. In 2011 the Grafische Kabinett (print cabinet) was added to the house.
The gallery's concept is currently being fundamentally redesigned.
