Oldtimer- und Technikmuseum Perleberg
Association museum in the listed gymnasium at the Ziegelhof with vintage cars, motorcycles, tractors and an East German escape aircraft.
About the museum
The Oldtimerfreunde Perleberg (Perleberg Vintage Car Friends) have met since 1986 as a regulars' table and have been a registered nonprofit association since 1998. Its members collect and restore historic technology, from bicycle auxiliary engines through motorcycles, cars and tractors to military vehicles.
In January 2002, association members began converting the listed gymnasium at the Ziegelhof from 1896 – the oldest municipal gymnasium in Perleberg, provided by the town – into an exhibition space within a few weeks. On May 1, 2002, the Oldtimer- und Technikmuseum opened.
About 50 vehicles and numerous curiosities are on display, including an aircraft with a Trabant engine built at the end of the 1980s, with which an escape from the GDR was planned. Further areas are devoted to the wooden coachbuilding of a Perleberg workshop, K-Wagen racing from the region, and radio and television technology; a wheelwright's shop and a locksmith's workshop with transmission round out the collection.
