About the museum
The museum at the kbo-Inn-Salzach-Klinikum in Gabersee near Wasserburg am Inn is dedicated to the history of the institution and to psychiatry as a whole. It documents the path from the former "Kreisirrenanstalt" (district asylum) to today's clinic. The exhibition has been on the clinic grounds since 2003.
On display are a patient room from the 1960s and a doctor's office from the 1920s, supplemented by collections of medical objects, historical documents and photographs. They offer glimpses of the eventful history of the hospital.
The museum is operated by the Bezirk Oberbayern (Upper Bavaria district administration). Visitors are guided by clinic staff; tours are free of charge and, by registration, are also available to school classes, companies and private groups.
